SEAOC Forum
Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards

At the recently completed Annual Convention and Exhibit on the Kohala Coast, Hawai’i, the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) inducted five association members into the prestigious SEAOC College of Fellows, and recognized 23 firms for creative achievement and innovation in structural engineering design through its 10th annual Competition for Engineering Excellence Awards.

As part of a luncheon program, five SEAOC members were honored with SEAOC’s highest form of recognition for outstanding contributions to the profession and the organization - induction into the SEAOC College of Fellows. The inductees were: Gregg Brandow, Los Angeles, James Amrhein, Long Beach, Jack Moehle, Berkeley, David McCormick, San Francisco, and George Saunders (posthumous), San Diego.

A highlight of the convention program was the announcement of the winners of the Excellence in Engineering Awards Competition. Twenty-three firms out of 54 entries were selected by a team of experienced judges as being projects demonstrating exceptional innovation and creativity in finding economic solutions to complex engineering problems .
